Stickers resembling the Israeli flag with swastikas instead of the Star of David were discovered in Harvard Square, sparking outrage and concern. The stickers, which read “Stop Funding Israeli Terrorism,” were seen on Harvard University’s campus and city property in Cambridge.
After reports of the stickers surfaced on social media, Harvard Hillel Executive Director Jason B. Rubenstein expressed alarm over the physical manifestation of the anti-Semitic imagery. This incident follows the appearance of “intimidating” posters critical of the war in Gaza outside a Harvard building last week, which were linked to JStreetU at Hillel.
In response to the posters, Rubenstein suspended JStreetU and co-chair Meredith Zielonka from using the group’s funds. Cambridge and Harvard University police are currently investigating the stickers found in Harvard Square.
The incident has sparked a conversation about the rise of anti-Semitism and hate speech on college campuses. Harvard University, as well as the local authorities, are working to address the issue and ensure the safety and well-being of all students on campus.
