Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh experienced a health scare during a recent game against the Denver Broncos. Harbaugh, 60, left the field due to an “illness,” which was later revealed to be atrial flutter, a heart condition. Harbaugh had dealt with this issue in the past and underwent a cardioversion in 2012. Despite the incident, Harbaugh returned to coach the rest of the game after receiving medical attention.
Harbaugh’s brother, John Harbaugh, expressed concern after learning about the incident and mentioned that Jim had undergone procedures for similar heart issues in the past. Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert praised Harbaugh’s resilience and ability to remain calm despite the circumstances. The Chargers are set to face the Arizona Cardinals in their next game on October 21.
Atrial flutter is a condition where the heart chambers beat faster than normal, leading to potential complications such as stroke and heart failure. The cause of atrial flutter is largely unknown, but it can result in additional heart rhythm problems. Despite the scare, Harbaugh is determined to continue coaching and remains focused on the upcoming games.
