Erika Diarte-Carr, a single mother from Utah, has passed away at the age of 30 after a two-year battle with terminal cancer. She leaves behind two children, Jeremiah and Aaliyah. With multiple tumors that had metastasized throughout her body, Carr was diagnosed with stage 4 small cell lung carcinoma in May 2022. She was later diagnosed with Cushing Syndrome in January 2024. Despite being given only three months to live in September, Carr continued to fight and started a GoFundMe page to raise funds for her own funeral expenses and to provide for her children after she was gone. Along the way, she raised over $1,180,000, far surpassing her initial goal of $5,000. Carr expressed her gratitude to everyone who donated and promised to use the funds to plan a big family trip for her children and to set up a trust fund to ensure their financial stability. She also thanked donors for leaving a positive impact on her children’s lives. Carr’s cousin, Angelique Rivera, announced her passing on Facebook, noting that she had fought a long and hard battle and was now at peace. Erika Diarte-Carr’s story is a poignant reminder of the strength and resilience of those battling terminal illnesses and the impact of community support and kindness in times of need.
