Six Republican congressmen from Pennsylvania are suing the state’s secretary of state for allegedly not adequately verifying the identities of overseas and military voters, claiming this leads to election fraud. They want Pennsylvania to segregate and hold ballots from these voters until further eligibility checks are conducted. The congressmen are collaborating with PA Fair Elections, which has been accused of spreading misinformation about voter rolls. The lawsuit is criticized by the state department as an effort to disenfranchise voters, especially military personnel, who are exempt from voter ID requirements when requesting absentee ballots. The GOP congressmen argue that this exemption violates federal law and makes Pennsylvania elections vulnerable to ineligible votes and potential foreign interference. Election officials have already sent out thousands of absentee ballots to overseas and military voters. A similar complaint by PA Fair Elections is pending in court, with state officials arguing that voter registration requirements are up to the states and that ineligible voting rates are low and are investigated when they occur.
