The Westfield Woman’s Club is embarking on a new fundraising campaign to raise $500,000 for interior renovations of their historic clubhouse. The club, which was built almost 100 years ago, is in need of extensive updates to ensure its continued use as a community space.
Club President Paula Godfrey explained that the building’s age has led to unexpected challenges during previous renovation projects, prompting a shift in focus to the interior of the building. Watson Construction has been enlisted to work on the restoration, with renovations currently underway at the clubhouse located at 28 Court St., Westfield.
The clubhouse boasts a community kitchen and a theater space, which is utilized by the Westfield Theatre Group, a department of the club. Additionally, the building is available for rental for events, with various levels suitable for different-sized gatherings.
The club’s fundraising efforts will enable them to update and modernize the interior of the clubhouse, ensuring its continued use as a valuable community resource. The Westfield Woman’s Club is one of only two buildings dedicated to women’s clubs in Massachusetts, highlighting the historic significance of this project. Supporters are encouraged to donate to help preserve this important piece of Westfield’s history for future generations.
