Sean “Diddy” Combs, a hip-hop legend and Grammy winner, was arrested in New York City by federal authorities on Monday. His attorney expressed disappointment with the “unjust prosecution” and stated that Combs is innocent. It is unclear what charges he will face, but they are expected to be in relation to allegations of sex trafficking, sexual assault, and the distribution of illegal narcotics and firearms.
Agents from Homeland Security Investigations carried out the arrest, and Combs is scheduled to appear in court on charges related to the above allegations. The arrest came after a video surfaced showing Combs assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassandra “Cassie” Ventura, for which he apologized on social media. Ventura had previously filed a lawsuit against Combs for assault and sex trafficking, which was settled for an undisclosed amount.
Combs’ attorney has denied all allegations and claimed that Combs is cooperative with the investigation. Federal authorities have been investigating Combs since March 2024 and executed search warrants at his properties. The U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York confirmed the arrest and plans to unseal the indictment on Tuesday. Combs has not been charged with a crime but has faced multiple allegations. A press conference is scheduled for Tuesday to provide more information on the case.
