Routh was found near Trump’s golf course in Florida with a loaded rifle and other items in his possession. In light of this incident, political figures including Mitch McConnell and Chuck Schumer have called for additional resources for the Secret Service to prevent future attacks. President Joe Biden also condemned political violence and urged Americans to work together to prevent such incidents. The White House criticized Elon Musk for a now-deleted post on X that questioned the lack of assassination attempts on Biden and Harris. The Department of Justice, under Attorney General Merrick Garland, is working diligently with law enforcement partners to ensure accountability in this case.
