The incident occurred at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, where a suspect was spotted with a gun barrel in the bushes. The suspect fled in a black SUV after agents opened fire, leaving behind an assault rifle, backpack, bags, camera, and food. The suspect, Ryan Routh, appeared in federal court and is charged with possession of a firearm as a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number. Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw stated that Routh was within range of Trump, despite not firing any shots.
