Tito Jackson, a member of the famous Jackson 5 music group, has passed away at the age of 70. He was known for his role as a background singer and guitarist in the family band, which included his brothers Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon, and the late Michael. The Jackson 5 rose to fame in the 1970s with hit songs like “ABC” and “I’ll Be There.”
In a statement posted on Instagram, Tito’s sons TJ, Taj, and Taryll expressed their shock and heartbreak over their father’s death. The family credited their father for caring about everyone and their well-being. Tito’s passing comes 12 years after Michael Jackson’s death in 2009.
Tito Jackson was the last of the nine Jackson siblings to release a solo project, with his debut album “Tito Time” in 2016. He had recently been working on a sophomore album and released a song in 2017 titled “One Way Street.” Despite his own musical career, Tito prioritized raising his three sons TJ, Taj, and Taryll, who went on to form their own music group 3T.
In a statement to the Associated Press in 2009, Tito reflected on his brother Michael’s death, stating that it brought the family closer together. He also mentioned that performing without Michael was still difficult for him and his brothers. Tito’s legacy lives on through his music and the love and support he provided to his family.
