In the women’s competition, American judoka Chantal Wright claimed victory in the -78kg category, defeating her Japanese opponent Mao Izumi in the final. The bronze medals in this category went to France’s Samantha da Silva and Slovenia’s Klara Apotekar.
In the -90kg category, Ukraine’s Artem Khomula emerged as the winner after defeating Georgia’s Lasha Bekauri in the final. The bronze medals in this category were won by Italy’s Nicholas Mungai and Japan’s Kenta Nagasawa.
Moving on to the men’s competition, Belgium’s Matthias Casse was triumphant in the -81kg category, with a victory over Japan’s Joshiro Maruyama in the final. The bronze medals in this category were claimed by Hungary’s Attila Ungvari and Serbia’s Aleksandar Kukolj.
In the -100kg category, home favorite Zlatko Kumric delighted the Croatian crowd by taking the gold after defeating Japan’s Kenta Nagasawa in the final. The bronze medals in this category went to Russia’s Arman Adamian and Azerbaijan’s Zelym Kotsoiev.
