A Florida sheriff’s deputy, Ivan Clark, was hospitalized after being involved in a roll-over crash with an alleged drunk driver. The incident occurred while Clark was responding to a report of a reckless driver south of Tampa. Clark’s unmarked police vehicle was struck, causing it to roll over several times and ejecting him from the vehicle. He was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital and was in stable condition as of Sunday morning. The alleged drunk driver, Uriel Garcia Nestor, was arrested by the Florida Highway Patrol and was found to have a blood alcohol concentration of 0.121. Nestor faces charges of driving while under the influence with serious bodily injury, driving with a suspended license with serious bodily injury, and driving while under the influence with property damage. Sheriff Chad Chronister expressed disappointment in the reckless decision made by Nestor to drive impaired, stating that it puts the entire community at risk. This incident serves as a reminder of the dangers that impaired drivers pose to society and the importance of making responsible decisions while behind the wheel.
