Freshman quarterback Malachi Marshall impressed in his debut as a starter, completing 9 of 16 passes for 161 yards and a touchdown without any interceptions. Dempster, who had struggled in the previous game against Marshall, showcased his skills by averaging 8.4 yards per carry and scoring on runs of 17, 15, and 3 yards.
The Seawolves defense also shined, with Sebastian Regis scoring a touchdown after recovering a fumble by Stonehill. Despite a touchdown pass by Stonehill’s Ashur Carraha, the Seawolves’ defense held strong, intercepting two of Carraha’s passes and forcing a fumble.
The win against Stonehill marked a strong comeback for Stony Brook after a tough loss to Marshall in their season opener. This victory not only showcased the team’s resilience but also highlighted the potential of their young players, setting a positive tone for the rest of the season. Stony Brook fans have much to look forward to as the team continues to showcase their talent and determination on the field.
