Red Sox end 5-game losing streak, defeat White Sox 3-1

The Boston Red Sox snapped a five-game losing streak by defeating the Chicago White Sox 3-1 on Friday night at Fenway Park. Ceddanne Rafaela was the hero of the game, hitting a tiebreaking two-run homer over the Green Monster in the seventh inning. Triston Casas also contributed with an RBI single in the fourth inning.

The win came at a crucial time for the Red Sox, as they have been struggling in the race for the American League’s third wild-card spot. The victory ended a rough stretch in which they went 6-10 in their last 16 games.

The White Sox, on the other hand, suffered their 110th loss of the season, putting them on pace to potentially break the record for the most losses post-1900. Despite an RBI single from Jacob Amaya, the White Sox couldn’t overcome the offensive power of the Red Sox.

Both starting pitchers, Davis Martin for the White Sox and Nick Pivetta for the Red Sox, put up solid performances, each going six innings and allowing only one run.

The Red Sox are now looking to build on this win as they continue to fight for a spot in the playoffs. They will face off against the White Sox again on Saturday night, with LHP Garrett Crochet set to pitch for Chicago and RHP Cooper Criswell taking the mound for Boston.
