Former CEO of Project 2025 accused of having ties to Russia appeared on media outlet

The leader of the conservative policy blueprint Project 2025 appeared on a podcast produced by a company accused by the Department of Justice of being run by Russian agents. Paul Dans, the director of Project 2025, alleged that a group was working to undermine their effort to set a policy agenda for the next Trump administration. Project 2025, spearheaded by the Heritage Foundation, envisions increased presidential power, with many authors tied to former President Donald Trump. The company in question, Tenet Media, creates English-language content for social media sites and is described as focusing on Western political and cultural issues.

Dans announced his resignation from the Heritage Foundation days after his podcast appearance, citing a sophisticated group working against them. He claimed to be a victim of a “hoax” orchestrated by a liberal voting rights attorney. The Department of Justice’s indictment alleges that nearly $10 million was laundered by Russian agents to covertly fund and direct Tenet Media.

The podcast episode with Dans and Tim Pool discussed media misinformation about Project 2025 and encouraged listener involvement in government. Dans and the Heritage Foundation did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Despite the controversy, Dans expressed confidence in facing the “sophisticated” opposition and dismissed the accusations as a part of a Democratic hoax.
