Red Sox Struggle to Score, Drop Third Consecutive Game with Just One Run

New York – Luis Severino, who turned down the Red Sox’s offer in the off-season and signed a one-year, $13 million contract with the Mets, proved his worth by dominating Boston’s offense in a 4-1 victory at Citi Field. Severino allowed only one run in 7 innings, while the Red Sox struggled to get their bats going, scoring only three runs in their past three games.

Manager Alex Cora expressed his frustration with the team’s offensive struggles, with only Jarren Duran and Wilyer Abreu showing consistency. Despite a missed opportunity in the eighth inning, when Rafael Devers grounded out with two runners in scoring position, the Red Sox couldn’t catch up to the Mets.

Starter Brayan Bello gave up four runs, seven hits, and one walk in 5 innings. The Red Sox tied the game 1-1 in the third on Duran’s RBI single, but Brandon Nimmo’s RBI double and Luis Torrens’ run-scoring double helped the Mets regain the lead.

In the upcoming game, Kutter Crawford will pitch for the Red Sox against David Peterson for the Mets. With an 8-12 record and a 4.12 ERA, Crawford will look to lead his team to victory and break their offensive slump. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. as the Red Sox seek redemption against the Mets.
