The 35th Stone Soul Festival came to a successful conclusion on Sunday after four days of festivities at Blunt Park in Springfield. What began in 1989 as a small gathering among Black families, dubbed the Stone Soul Picnic, has evolved into a beloved community-wide festival that draws thousands from across the state each year.
This year’s festival featured a variety of entertainment, with a special focus on praise and gospel music on the final day. Attendees enjoyed performances from local and regional artists, as well as food vendors, arts and crafts vendors, and activities for all ages throughout the weekend.
The Stone Soul Festival has become a staple event in Springfield, celebrating Black culture, community, and unity. Over the past 35 years, it has grown in popularity and now serves as a platform for showcasing talent and providing a space for people to come together and celebrate.
Organizers and attendees alike were thrilled with the success of this year’s festival, and are already looking forward to next year’s event. Despite the challenges of the past year, the Stone Soul Festival once again proved to be a source of joy, connection, and celebration for all who attended.
