Alex Cora, Red Sox manager, signs 3-year contract extension

The Boston Red Sox have extended manager Alex Cora’s contract for three more years, keeping him with the team through the 2027 season. The decision comes after a recent loss against the Colorado Rockies, with the team currently holding a 54-47 record this year.

Cora, who led the Red Sox to a World Series title in 2018, has a long history with the franchise, having also been a player on the 2007 championship team. Despite being suspended by Major League Baseball and fired by the Red Sox in 2020 for his involvement in a sign-stealing scandal, he was rehired in 2021 and has since guided the team to success.

The manager expressed gratitude towards the organization for trusting him and his family, emphasizing that their comfort played a significant role in his decision to extend his contract. Cora also mentioned ongoing discussions with team executive Craig Breslow leading up to the announcement.

With 494 wins under his belt, Cora ranks fourth in franchise history and has expressed his commitment to the Red Sox and their fans. The extension provides stability for the team as they continue their season and strive for success in the years to come.
