Trenni Casey, a veteran sports journalist, is set to anchor her fifth Olympics broadcast team this summer for NBC Sports. While this is not her first Olympics assignment, it will be her first time as a studio host. In previous Games, Casey worked as a reporter, covering events like the US men’s curling team’s gold medal in 2018.
For the upcoming Paris Games, Casey will be hosting studio coverage from NBC Sports’ headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut. She expressed excitement for this new challenge, highlighting the different dynamics of studio hosting compared to reporting. Other broadcasters with ties to New England will also be part of NBC’s coverage, including Kathryn Tappen and Carolyn Manno.
Casey will be on-air from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, leading coverage on E! and CNBC. While she won’t be on-site in Paris, Casey is eager to work with a different crew and be part of an all-day studio experience. She compared the role to hosting shows like “MLB Tonight” on the MLB Network, but noted that the Olympics coverage presents a unique set of challenges.
Despite not being physically present in Paris, Casey is prepared to deliver dynamic and engaging coverage, showcasing her versatile skills as a sports broadcaster. The Olympics, with its diverse sports and global reach, offer a one-of-a-kind experience for journalists like Casey, who are passionate about sharing the stories and excitement of the Games.
