The echoes of history are reverberating through the current state of the world, as seen in the tragic events unfolding in Gaza. The failure of the League of Nations to prevent World War II and the ongoing genocide in Palestine point to a global system that is incapable of upholding justice and accountability. The United Nations, established after World War II, has also fallen short in addressing the root causes of conflict and violence around the world.
The white supremacy that has historically fueled genocides and injustices is once again at play in the ongoing atrocities in Gaza. The dehumanization of people in the Islamic world and the East, coupled with the false dichotomy of Judeo-Christian superiority, has led to complicity and barbarism in the face of Palestinian suffering.
The Western world’s support of Israel under the guise of self-defense is nothing short of an assassination of truth, enabling genocide and crimes against humanity to continue unchecked. The failure to uphold international law and hold perpetrators accountable reveals the hypocrisy and double standards of those in power, further destabilizing the global order.
A new, more just global system is needed to replace the failing post-World War II order, one that respects sovereignty and human rights, rejects wars and occupations, and promotes peace and cooperation among nations. Only by working towards equality, justice, and respect for all can we hope to avoid the brink of a global war and build a more harmonious and sustainable world for future generations.
