Linda Kosuda-Bigazzi discovered deceased before her sentencing in the case of the UConn professor’s death.

Linda Kosuda-Bigazzi was found dead in her Connecticut home just hours before she was set to be sentenced for the manslaughter of her 84-year-old husband. Kosuda-Bigazzi pleaded guilty to killing her husband in July 2017 and hiding his body in the basement until it was discovered in February 2018. She had also been depositing her husband’s paychecks into their joint account for months after his death. The medical examiner determined that Dr. Pierluigi Bigazzi died of blunt trauma to the head, allegedly at the hands of his wife. Kosuda-Bigazzi claimed in a journal that she killed her husband in self-defense during an argument about work on their deck, where he had initially come at her with a hammer. The case had been pending for six years, but Kosuda-Bigazzi decided to plead guilty on reduced charges because she wanted to close the chapter on her case. Her defense attorney expressed surprise at her unexpected death and said that she was a very independent woman who controlled her own destiny. The incident is now being investigated by police as an untimely death, and Kosuda-Bigazzi’s sentencing hearing for the manslaughter case has been canceled.
