Massachusetts is known for producing talented bands and musicians, but why can’t they have the Song of the Summer? Despite the competition, there are several artists from the state vying for the title.
Battlemode’s “Playlist” is a Top 40 groove that combines various musical influences into an effortlessly fun track. Billy Dean Thomas’ “Pardon My Space” is introspective yet mellow, fitting for any summer day. Coral Moons’ “Summer of U” is a new summer classic with big hooks and energy. The Downhauls’ “Dragged Down” brings a punk rock vibe to the summer scene, showing that a Song of the Summer doesn’t have to be light and breezy.
John Powhida’s “Don’t Blame It On Love” offers a cheeky rock ‘n’ roll vibe, showcasing his unique musical style. Western Education’s “Catherine What Have You Done” combines synth pop, indie rock, and emo elements with a touch of darkness for a dancefloor-worthy banger.
The Downhauls will be celebrating the release of their split 7″ “Trash Fest” with Duck & Cover, showing that Massachusetts musicians are not only talented but also ready to bring their music to the masses. With such a diverse range of talented artists, Massachusetts is definitely one to watch when it comes to the Song of the Summer.
